Windows 11, the new operating system from Microsoft

We previewed Microsoft's new operating system, Windows 11. Here's all the news

In this last period the world of technology has been overwhelmed by very important news, the release of the new version of the Redmond operating system, Windows 11. There are many new features and the features implemented are really interesting. There are many operating systems but Microsoft's is the most used ever, which is why each new version of Windows is impressive and gets talked about for a long time. We decided to test it and verify the implementations first hand.

GRAPHIC INTERFACE
The first change that we were able to appreciate concerns the brand new and modern graphic interface that Microsoft wanted to rework in Windows 11. All the components of the system have been revised, we find windows with rounded corners, the task bar of icons in the center, a new notification center , and a new dark theme. Going even further we also find new wallpapers, icons, animations and sounds and also a very modern File Explorer layout. Again regarding the graphic side of the new OS we can appreciate better compatibility with different monitor resolutions but above all a wider adaptation to touch screen systems, in fact, Windows 11 will modify the spacing between elements and will enable gestures to make use system touch much more practical.
We really appreciated the work done by the designers who brought a system that was considered by many to be unappealing up to date, perhaps looking around a bit, especially in the operating system area, has made Windows very similar to its counterparts.

START BUTTON AND SEARCH BAR
The Start button has become the starting point and the most iconic menu of Windows and of course it wasn't left out of the restyling. The first difference we find, in fact, in the position. It will no longer be located at the bottom left of the screen, but will instead be in the center (it can be moved for the more nostalgic), the "live tiles" have been eliminated, the huge, much-hated icons that have accompanied us since Windows 8 and are been replaced with a more sober and organized section of recommended, or rather most used, programs, apps and files. Furthermore, the search bar, which has now become fundamental for many users, will also be faster, more intuitive and clearer in displaying results.

WIDGETS
A new section of widgets completely customizable by the user has been added with news and other information of your choice. It will be found on the side with a very pleasant light transparency to which useful apps developed by third parties can be added, indeed it is Microsoft that urges developers to always create new and creative ones.

VIRTUAL DESKTOPS AND MULTITASKING
More and more users, especially in the professional field, need to work with multiple monitors or use virtual desktops. With Windows 11 all this will be even simpler and faster, in fact the windows can be blocked on multiple points and compose an interface tailored to the user, the animations explain well what will happen and it will be sufficient to pass the mouse over the enlarge icon to choose where to attach the window. Furthermore, working with multiple monitors is even simpler, in fact just connect or disconnect the second monitor to see the various windows and running programs rearrange themselves automatically.

SMART WORKING AND VIDEO CALLS
It is undeniable, in this last period the use of PCs for smart working has increasingly expanded and with it the tools for video calls have become of fundamental importance. This is why Microsoft has taken action and provides all the tools such as the famous Microsoft Teams already integrated into its new Windows 11.

ANDROID APPLICATIONS
And here's finally the news that left us speechless the most. Many users have been requesting this feature for a long time and they have finally been satisfied. Finally Windows 11 will natively support Android applications (without the use of external emulators). They can be downloaded from official stores such as Amazon or from the renewed Microsoft Store.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR WINDOWS 11
Unfortunately, the new operating system cannot be installed on all computers without distinction, in fact it will be necessary to meet minimum requirements, some of which are causing a lot of discussion, such as the TPM for example. Let's see what they are and if we could install Windows 11 on our PC.
A note must be made however, after the many complaints Microsoft is reviewing the minimum specifications for the installation of its system and therefore these data may undergo changes, in order to give as many users as possible the possibility of installing its OS.

Processor: min 1 GHz – 2 Cores
RAM: min 4 GB
Storage: min 64 GB free space
UEFI
UEFI Secure Boot enabled
TPM 2.0 (trusted platform module)
Screen: >9″ (does not apply to Desktop PCs), HD resolution, 8 bit
Graphics: DirectX 12 API
Bluetooth (does not apply to Desktop PCs)
Ethernet or WiFi
Precision TouchPad (on laptops with a touchpad)
Digitizer integrated into the TouchPad (in laptops equipped with a touchpad)
Power key, Volume keys
USB port (at least 1)
Video output (at least 1)

As regards the minimum requirements for installing Windows 11 there is a lot of talk and there is still nothing certain, from our tests the minimum configuration to use is an Intel CPU of at least Fourth Gen, 8GB of RAM and a Fast 128Gb SSD hard disk for a smooth system.

THE TPM
As we said before, some specifications have raised a bit of a fuss in the tech world, one above all the TPM 2.0 (trusted platform module). In fact, this "component" is not very well known to most people. The TPM is a component that can be hardware or software, which can be equipped on the motherboard or integrated on the CPU which guarantees high security standards, essential to be able to install and use company software that relies on Microsoft Azure services, in short and delegated to encrypt all sensitive data and passwords recorded on the PC.
No fear! It must be specified that almost all computers marketed in recent years, especially the assemblies of well-known brands, have already integrated it and it will only be enough to activate it (if it is not already) from the BIOS. Furthermore, you will be pleased to know that practically all CPUs from the last 3-4 years already integrate the TPM, Microsof offers a list of enabled CPUs, a list that is continuously expanding giving the possibility of perhaps being able to install Windows 11 with seventh grade Intel CPU models Gen or AMD Zen 1.

WHEN WILL IT BE AVAILABLE? WILL WINDOWS 11 BE FREE?
To date, the precise release date of Windows 11 is not very clear but we already know that the first PCs with this operating system already on board will be sold around the end of 2021. As regards the update from the "old" system, however, it will be necessary wait until the first months of 2022 until finishing the update of the machines around mid-2022.
Let's move on to the cost of the new OS, for owners of Windows 10 the update will be free for at least one year from the time of the first releases, therefore no cost for those who already own the previous generation Microsoft Operating System.

CONCLUSIONS
The time has come to take stock of this brand new Windows 11. We have been testing the Insider version for several days and therefore still in development, but we have been able to appreciate all the good things that have been introduced. The new graphic interface is truly modern and captivating, increasingly similar to the bitten apple counterpart. We loved the new start menu which (finally) eliminates "live tiles" and virtual desktop and multitasking management. Particular is the use of widgets which, thanks to external developers, could really become an interesting feature. Smart move by Microsoft to integrate video call tools (Microsoft Teams) which have now become vitally important. What in our opinion is one of the most interesting new features is the compatibility with Android Apps which will probably bring the use of PCs to an increasingly faster and more intuitive level.
Surely Windows 11 is approved with flying colors
